Miracle around every corner?

I used to consider myself a seamstress.  I took Home Ec in high school and loved it.  When I graduated from college in 1962, I bought 2 things....a car and a sewing machine.  I still have the sewing machine!

I wasn't an occasional seamstress, I made most of my clothes.  When Tommy and I married, I even made him a suit once and I also made him several ties.  I not only sewed for myself and my family, other people asked me to sew for them. I taught one friend how to sew and she immediately went out and bought a sewing machine.

When the boys were born I made a lot of their clothes including pajamas.  I could buy a remnant at the fabric store and make a pair of pajamas for 50 cents!  I made my sister Millie and I a winter coat once and I made my wedding dress and the dresses my two sisters wore at my wedding. I made a whole wardrobe for my sister Teresa to take to Europe!

So, yes.  I considered myself a seamstress and a pretty good one at that.

Not anymore.  I get very nervous when I sew.  I get especially nervous when someone else asks me to do something for them.

Yesterday was no exception.  Our friend Tim asked if I would hem a pair of pants for him.  No problem.  Easy task, right?  Yes it really was. However, my hands still shook and I still got nervous.

Being a seamstress I always have a lot of thread so rarely have to go buy any,  This morning I looked in the 3 places where I keep thread.  I needed gray.  It never occurred to me that I wouldn't have gray thread!  I didn't.  I looked again. Nope.  No gray.  Every other color but gray!

Now I am really shaking.  I will have to go buy some gray thread.  Then I thought that maybe just maybe some was loose in the drawer of the desk where my sewing machine sits. So.....I opened the drawer....and lo and behold.....there was one spool of thread.  You guessed it.  Gray.  Not only gray but the exact color of the pants!

Now, I don't look for a miracle around every corner.....but maybe I should.
