The Dent

We have a group of boys who meet each week for Bible study in our home.  One of the boys started driving the family car after he got his driver's license.  He parked in a parking space in back of our house.

Tommy and I got into our car to go pick up pizza for the boys to eat and Tommy backed into this boy's car.  We told his Mom we would pay to have it fixed but she said no big deal.  It wasn't that bad a dent and she could fix it.

Fast forward about a year.  Same scenario.  Same car parked in same spot behind our car.

YEP.  He did it again.  Same place on the car.

Our boys were all standing around looking at what Tommy had done (for the second time)  Some were in shock.  Some were laughing their heads off.  One just stood there thoughtfully taking in the whole situation.

Finally the thoughtful one (Wesley) looked up and very seriously said "Martin, you should probably park in the lower parking lot with me from now on."

Wise words.

Now for the rest of the story....Tommy did call his insurance agent this time.  The insurance agent is a good friend who happens to go to a church where we used to minister.  Before Tommy hung up this friend said "Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!"

WHAT?  John boy had signed us up to preach this coming Sunday and forgot to enter it into our calendar.  Hm-m-m-m-mmmmm........A year later, Tommy does the exact same thing only this time he called his insurance agent, who happened to go to the church where we were scheduled to preach only 3 days from the date of the accident.  Accident?  Maybe not.

Quibbler, picky, aggravating or just plain annoying???

We just came back from the store.  We spent about 15 minutes longer than we should have because the sale price on what we got wasn't coming up on the screen.  (Imagine that)  We were getting two of each item.  We should have been "saving" (ha!) a dollar on two of the items and $2.00 on the other two. Call me picky but if a sign says something is on sale, I want the sale price.

I had taken a picture with my phone, but evidently that wasn't good enough, so the clerk went back to check.  She rang it up again.  Still the wrong price.  A man came over to help.  He thought he had it straightened out. Tommy agreed with him.  Once more, aggravating me walked up to the thing that shows the price and said "NO...it is Still not right!"

Then I said, "just keep the items."  At this point the man rang it up for the right price.

I am saying all this to ask a question...."why quibble over $3.00."  My answer is, that if every time I go to the store...say once a week for a year....(I sometimes go more than once a week) and I try to buy something that is supposedly $3.00 off, that comes to $156 a year.  I could buy a lot of groceries for $156. (Or maybe not!  HA!)

So I will continue to quibble over 50 cents, or a dollar, and I will remain picky and aggravating but most of all, as my son Jason Amos would say...I will still be very very annoying.  If you work check out at a store, you had better hope I don't get in your line!

The chair

The girls I work with at the warehouse called and asked if I needed some camp chairs for our Thursday night boy's Bible study.  I said "sure"! (We don't always have enough chairs...especially when we sit outside around a fire.)

Tommy, John boy and I opened them up and sat them out in the sun.  When it came time to bring them in, it was just Tommy and me.  We decided to send 3 of them back to the warehouse.  Two were those beach chairs that sit close to the ground and another was hard to get in and out of as well.

When I told John boy what I had done, he said "well, the low ones were my favorite!"  So, I immediately texted our friend, Tommy at the warehouse.  "Oh, they have already been sent to....."....another place we send things we cannot use.  I was so upset with myself for not asking John boy first!

Today I walked into the living room and there sat a brand new  chair.  (the others were very well used!)  It had come in on the truck and Tommy immediately thought of us.

Sometimes it pays to wait.  You might just get better than what you bargained for!

We have decided to quit using credit cards.  Not that we are excessive with them, we aren't.  And... we pay them off each month.  Still....

Today we went to the store to "only get a few items."  You know the drill.  We DID only get a few items.  We  had 4 bags and they weren't full.  The total was $52.92.  We took the cash we thought we would need, never dreaming we would need all of it.  We didn't!

We had taken exactly $53 into the store!!!
